Adults with Chickenpox are more likely to suffer diseases than children. If the blister are infected with bacteria the risk of suffering diseases are even greater. Pregnant women, new born babies, babies up to 4 weeks old and people with weak immune system are also likely to suffer from diseases if they get infected with Chickenpox, even though that it is rare that adults have Chickenpox.

Normal adult and people with weak immune system that have Chickenpox will suffer from diseases. These diseases includes Skin Infection, Shingles, Encephalitis, Pneumonia and joint inflammation. Adults have 33% more chance of hospitalization and 55% more chance of dying because of Chickenpox compare to children but the people with weak immune system have a higher chance of getting disease after or during the process of Chickenpox than normal adults.  

Pregnant women are more likely to have 'Pneumonia' after having Chickenpox than normal adults.The severity of the Pneumonia depends on how many weeks pregnant is the women, the more weeks she is pregnant the severity is more serious. There is also an chance of passing this disease to the fetus. If the fetus got infect in the first 20 weeks or before, the fetus then will develop 'fetal varicella syndrome'. This disease can lead to shorten arms or legs, eye problems or per mature birth.

It is rare that you get side effect from the Chicken pox vaccination but these are what you might get if you have side effects from the Chickenpox vaccination:

1. Seizures
2. Brain infection
3. Loss of balance
4. anaphylaxis

Note: before Chickenpox vaccine was discovered, there was an average of 10,000 people hospitalized and 100 death per year in America.

The seriousness of chicken pox
